About the Author
Mary Brown is an experienced professional with many years of experience in the field of information security and health informatics. She has extensive experience in the health care industry and contributes to security and health informatics education efforts including giving presentations, webinars, and workshops on a variety of related topics, Recent examples include a couple of ISC2 Think Tank webinars on security regulations and application security and a presentation at the Minnesota Government IT Symposium on the topic of the National Health Information Network. She is involved in a number of IT and information security professional organizations. She was selected as the Minnesota ISSA Security Professional of the Year for 2006 and received the Harold Able Distinguished Faculty award in 2009. Mary Brown has earned CISSP and CISA certifications and has an MS in Information Security. She is currently finishing up a PhD in IT Education with an emphasis in health informatics education. Mary teaches undergraduate courses in information assurance and security and health informatics for Capella University. She is responsible for development of the curriculum and for ensuring that the curriculum provides a complete education that covers the range of skills needed by todays information security and health informatics professionals.

G. David Garson is a full professor of public administration at North Carolina State University, where he teaches courses on American government, research methodology, computer applications, and geographic information systems. He was the recipient of the Donald Campbell Award (1995) from the policy studies organization, American Political Science Association, for outstanding contributions to policy research methodology and of the Aaron Wildavsky Book Award (1997) from the same organization. He is the author of Guide to Writing Quantitative Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (Dekker, 2001), Neural Network Analysis for Social Scientists (1998), and Computer Technology and Social Issues (1995). In addition he is editor of Social Dimensions of Information Technology (2000), Information Technology and Computer Applications in Public Administration: Issues and Trends (1999), and the Handbook of Public Information Systems (1999). He has also authored or edited 17 other books and authored more than 50 articles. For the last 20 years he has served as editor of the Social Science Computer Review and is on the editorial board of four additional journals.

I love the way it's laid out and I love the ...

I am 32 years old and after a miscarriage in December I was recently diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and agoraphobia (due to a major hormonal inbalance, I believe). Even with all the medication I am on and weekly visits to my therapist, this book has helped me the most. I love the way it's laid out and I love the worksheets but this book would still be very useful even without using the worksheets. It's not as much of a "workbook" as I thought it would. It's so much better. If you have struggled with anxiety, panic attacks and phobias BUY THIS BOOK.

This is the best book to work through anxiety issues using cognitive behavioral therapy. I found it to be very helpful years ago when I suffered from agoraphobia. Techniques really work, information about the physical characteristics of anxiety/panic attacks put my mind at ease. I purchased this for a friend who is in a similar circumstance. I recommend this book highly.

Dr. Keener has done extensive research to produce this volume. I am greatly indebted to him for this excellent resource. As a bible teacher myself I am extremely aware of the grave problem that exists in the area of bible interpretation. Most come to the bible today for personal devotions or to find answers, and while this is of course fine and legitimate the problem is that we bring our 21st century thought and culture with us when doing so. What must be remembered is that the bible was written first TO an ancient people, and while it has been preserved for us, the culture, customs, and even usages and definitions for certain words are different then are our present. This volume is extremely helpful in gaining the proper context and therefore a proper interpretation of what the bible is actually saying.

This commentary focuses on giving the reader background information on each verse. It does not try to give a theological interpretation of the verses. Therefore, it is a good source for someone who is trying to study the Bible for themselves without being influenced by theological bias of the author.

This will be a handy reference for getting some idea about the events, peoples, settings and times when the New Testament Scriptures were originally written. There does appear to be some bias on the part of the author regarding interpretation in some areas but he's not overly dogmatic.

To his utter shock, the story was received by Gold and his readership with great glee, was among the most popular GALAXY ever published (or Pohl) and one of the most anthologized. Whether this demonstrated the audacity and scope of Gold’s unreason or whether it confirmed Gold’s genius (or both) Pohl was utterly unable to decide. The sculpted consumer-obsessed society was used again by Pohl a few years later in the novelette THE MAN WHO ATE THE WORLD which was far more credible (consumption-obsession as a kind of personal tyranny) and, perhaps for that very reason, much less successful, barely remembered.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Frederik Pohl (b. 1919) has been at the center of science fiction for three-quarters of a century. As an editor at GALAXY, Gold’s successor for a decade, as the editor a decade earlier of ASTONISHING and other competitors of ASTOUNDING, as the science fiction editor at Bantam Books and as an editor of the first original anthology series, STAR SCIENCE FICTION, Pohl has been perhaps more influential than any editor other than John W. Campbell. His novels and short stories alone or in collaboration since THE SPACE MERCHANTS have been at the cutting edge of the field; GATEWAY and MAN PLUS each won both Nebula and Hugo in successive years. Writers he first published or made prominent as an editor include R.A. Lafferty, Cordwainer Smith and Joanna Russ. His mainstream novel, THE YEARS OF THE CITY is probably his finest. He is a Grandmaster of the Science Fiction Writers of America. His most recent novel, published in 2011 is ALL THE LIVES HE LED.

Social and science and economics

I read this first decades ago, and loved it for the plot itself.
Reading it again, I understand that I was not just enjoying the plot, but getting a deep but subtle commentary on science, economics, interpersonal relationships, and politics hidden away inside a fun story. I know well-crafted stores influenced me subtly in many ways in later life, and I thank Pohl for being the master writer and laying the groundwork for critical thinking in me.
You will have a good deal of fun with this, and face questions that we still haven't answered.

There are 6 introductory sections for one novelette! And they are pretty bad, too -- cold, incomplete, and dull. As far as I can tell, all those introductions are good for nothing for but padding the page count.

The story is marred by more than a dozen OCR transcription errors and one bad duplicate passage. I know the budget must be tight, but come on.

The jacket is a nice touch, though.

The story itself is a wacky "what if". As another reviewer posted, it depicts people behaving irrationally in an irrational world. That makes it more of a satire rather than a serious work. Pohl manages to pull off the satire long enough to carry the story.

An old friend

I remembered reading this long ago and went looking for it. The chance to put it on my Kindle and have it to read anytime thrilled me. I'll be gathering in more of this Author as well - a golden-ager and one I always appreciated.

It tells a good story, the roll reversal between wealthy and poor was why I remembered it in the first place; it is more than mere entertainment.

Truly special...

Oh Wow I was so lucky to get a copy of this incredible new authors' debut in return for an honest review and I so enjoyed it. I'm So Glad it's part of the Kindle First program, as I highly recommend it... Why? Because the writing is flawless, the characters are well described and feel real, and the story kept me swiping madly.

Everyone has baggage or challenges, who knows how we all respond to the different things that the world throws at us, this book makes everything feel like a different type of reality as with the right people in your life... it is also the right type of normal. 'The First Word' is a romance at it's core... however to limit it to that genre seems superficial because it involved a special boy, with a special set of circumstances that truly gave it heart - this made it feel so very beautiful. I adored Andie and Rhys and Rhys's gorgeous, autistic son Will as they are very real characters, living and experiencing life in all of its beauty and who's story made me seriously cry at times.

I'm not going to ruin this review with spoilers, however I will say I read this a little while ago and still smile at the thought of the incredible Andie, the insurmountable Rhys and the delightful Will. Isley Robson has proven she is a very talented and sensitive writer that I have now added to my auto-buy list. This is truly special, give it a go, you will not be disappointed.

What a beautifully written, compelling novel!! Isley Robson deals with autism with great sensitivity as well as providing us with an amazing love story. Hard to put this book down. This is a must read!!

Sweet and vivid

Isley Robson has woven a rich and colorful real-life story. Her development of her characters is impressive and full, I felt like I knew them intimately and loved how descriptive she was in her writing of their thoughts. This sweet story captivated me and I had a hard time putting it down to do such ordinary things as laundry and dishes. Her vocabulary was a bit daunting- I had to look up the definition of several words- but impressive nonetheless.
I like how this book took normal daily activities and wove them into the story. For all the fairytale-ness of the story, it was very believable and, at times, I felt like I was Andie and Rhys's best friend hearing their tales.
This is an adult romance novel- sometimes young adult and adult can cross into each other, but this is definitely not one of them! Her romantic interludes are explicitly descriptive and yet "not too much" or "dirty".
I enjoyed this well-written novel and will look forward to more of her work!

I really enjoyed this book, many of the recipes in the book would be useful just to anyone.
I was looking for helpful and simple ideas to eat healthier and found here some recipes and most of them worked for me easily.
The introduction section is very good and the recipes look amazing, the pictures are really great !

The health benefits of lemons mentioned were interesting. I love that the recipes all had pictures to go with them. That always makes me more likely to try making something. My only complaint is that the recipe for lemon pudding cake was completely blacked out.

There was insta love, mating

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a collection of short stories of all the Mate Series. Having had the opportunity to received a complimentary copy of "Breaker's Mate" and "Gunner's Mate" to read and review before. I jumped at the opportunity to review the other mate stories.

The mate series is written from the perspective of both MC's POV. Dawns writing is so descriptive, you can physically picture what is taking place. There was insta love, mating, neck markings, hickey marks, hand jobs, BJ's, and plenty of HOT man on man sex. The collections are smoking HOT!! The description of some of the hand jobs scene will make any fan girl get so exited and start to squeal till she's shivering and squirming in her seat. Each stories have superb MC's with one being a more dominant alpha character. Always a win win for me.

However my only complaints about this book are some of the collections are to short... Which there isn't really enough time for development. I would've love to read more on "Tracker's Mate." I wanted more. I had to keep reminding myself that this is a collection of short novellas, and therefore, things will move along far more quickly than normal. Nonetheless I really enjoyed this book. It was well written very descriptive, and flows very easily making it very easy to read the short stories collection.

If your a fan of the paranormal world with HOT men having lots of fun between the sheets and any where else... than you've pretty much hit the jackpot. I highly RECOMMENDED.

Looking for good Paranormal MM- right here!

This series is good. There are a lot of possibilities for expanding these novellas into their own novels. I would be happy to read more stories about these mates. There were very few typing errors that I found, but they didn't distract you from the overall story. The characters were all very diverse. There was clear POV, so you knew whose perspective you were reading from. Not to mention the love scenes! Those were great, and even when the books are back to back they still have variation from the other stories. There are some similarities, but there are only so many ways to describe such spectacular orgasms! Great read! (less)

Loved it!!

I received this book from the author for honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the sex scenes, they were so HOT!
I didn't like how short each mate book was, I would have loved to see
them longer, especially Gunner's. But in all it was well written, and
the plots were very good. I love how it has both mates POVs in this book.
I love that I get to read both sides of what is going on in a story.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a hot read, because
it was exactly that.
