This book is great for picking movies you don't know, read something about them before watching it...
The letter printing is quite small and I have had some trouble reading it... so I started using glasses with this book.

Do not buy this book if you own horror! 333 films to scare you to death, for they are the exact book. They switched the cover and flip flopped the authors names, other than that it's the same book.

"Horror" is an extremely juicy look at some (200ish!!) of the most influential horror movies to have graced the silver screen since the advent of the moving picture. A lot of familiar titles appear in this decade by decade critical analysis but it is the inclusion of a large number of world cinema and independant titles that really pushes this into the "must have" category. A well written, thoughtful and highly entertaining read that should be seen as a primer to the humoungous "Nightmare Movies" that the author has written! Great Stuff!!

As in most disasters, there were those who behaved with shocking brutality - like the ghoulish cart driver who would take up a dead child by the leg and cry "Faggots - five for sixpence!" Others marked themselves out with enormous courage and compassion. London's Lord Mayor, Sir John Lawrence, remained at his post when almost all who could afford to had fled the city, and Dr Nathaniel Hodges tended patients throughout the epidemic - never himself catching the plague. Walter Bell's astonishingly detailed account has never been equalled. This new, re-edited edition of his book allows his scholarship and imaginative sympathy to shine through for a new generation of readers.

Read unabridged and the second edition

I disagree with those who think Bell's style archaic. To me it comes across as fresh, lively and impassioned. This is a first-rate work of original scholarship, meticulous detail and riveting prose. Do however by the second edition and the unabridged version. The Folio edition is truncated and a lot of good stuff omitted.

Bell's other works on London: Unknown London and the Great Fire are almost equally good.

Great digital control systems book!

This book did an excellent job of putting into easily readable language what might be rather difficult to study otherwise. I enjoyed it's coverage on Luenberger Observers, simple digital control system analysis, and Optimal control. The problems weren't so complex that the basic educational goals were lost. After getting through 80% of the book in a classroom setting, I felt that I could continue on with the rest of the material (Kalman Observers, etc.) via self-study.

Great reference, not so much a good guide.

Great reference book. Don't expect a great read if this is your first introduction to MM. It's very dry and institutional, and focuses mostly on technical configuration aspects rather than the business processes themself. That being said, every consultant needs a good reference bible and this is certainly one of the best out there.

Scientific but readable. Not a "how to" book.

This book contains detailed scientific information but is clearly written and understandable. Though it wasn't what I wanted (I was seeking more practical how-to information) I kept this book as a reference. If I were to sign up for a college level class, this book is what I might expect for the required text.
