About the Author
Robert H. Wagoner, NAE, FASM, brings both a teaching perspective (Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Ohio State University) and industrial experience (Staff Research Scientist, G. M. Research Laboratories) to his work in sheet metal forming and simulation. Developer of the Sheet family of computer programs in use at several companies and universities, Professor Wagoner has received extensive recognition for research achievements, including the Mathewson Gold Medal, Raymond Memorial Award, and Hardy Gold Medal. He has more than 150 research articles in print. Professor Wagoner is Director of the Center for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing of Automotive Components (CAMMAC), and is co-organizer of Numisheet ‘96.

Jean-Loup Chenot is Director of CEMEF, the Centre de Mise en Forme des Materiaux, a research and teaching facility of the School of Mines of Paris. CEMEF is one of Europe’s premier institutes devoted to materials forming and, with close industrial cooperation, is the developer of the Forge family of programs. Winner of the Doistau-Blutel Prize of the French Academy of Sciences, the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du M�rite, the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques, and Organizer of Numiform ’92, Dr. Chenot has presented over 100 international or keynote lectures and has published over 125 articles on the subject of numerical simulation of industrial forming operations, particularly bulk forming.

About the Author
Kathleen Blake Yancey is the Kellogg W. Hunt Professor of English and Director of the Graduate Program in Rhetoric and Composition at Florida State University. Past President of the Council of Writing Program Administrators (WPA) and Past Chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), she is President of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). In addition, she co-directs the Inter/National Coalition on Electronic Portfolio Research. She has directed several institutes focused on electronic portfolios and on service learning and reflection, and with her colleagues in English Education, she is working on developing a program in new literacies. Previously, she has taught at UNC Charlotte and at Clemson University, where she directed the Pearce Center for Professional Communication and created the Class of 1941 Studio for Student Communication, both of which are dedicated to supporting communication across the curriculum.

Janice Haney Peritz is an Associate Professor of English who has taught college writing for more than thirty years, first at Stanford University, where she received her PhD in 1978, and then at the University of Texas at Austin; Beaver College; and Queens College, City University of New York. From 1989 to 2002, she directed the Composition Program at Queens College, where in 1996, she also initiated the college’s writing-across-the-curriculum program and the English Department’s involvement with the Epiphany Project and cyber-composition. She also worked with a group of CUNY colleagues to develop The Write Site, an online learning center, and more recently directed the CUNY Honors College at Queens College for three years. Currently, she is back in the English Department doing what she loves most: research, writing, and full-time classroom teaching of writing, literature, and culture.

Elaine P. Maimon is President of Governors State University in the south suburbs of Chicago, where she is also Professor of English. Previously she was Chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage, Provost (Chief Campus Officer) at Arizona State University West, and Vice President of Arizona State University as a whole. In the 1970s, she initiated and then directed the Beaver College writing-across-the-curriculum program, one of the first WAC programs in the nation. A founding Executive Board member of the National Council of Writing Program Administrators (WPA), she has directed national institutes to improve the teaching of writing and to disseminate the principles of writing across the curriculum. With a PhD in English from the University of Pennsylvania, where she later helped to create the Writing Across the University (WATU) program, she has also taught and served as an academic administrator at Haverford College, Brown University, and Queens College.

Was a purchase for school, almost purchased it myself to keep though!

I actually found this book to have some good information in it, and it was nice to be able to quickly locate something with how the book was laid out. The tabs made it fast and it's kind of fun reading all the different examples and helps you grasp what to do, especially in some not-so-common circumstances for source citing. The problem is you can also find about everything that's in here online as well, with of course a bit more of your time, so this is definitely a time saver. Some of the information was a bit outdated, like some things in MLA format, but that's to be expected.

I also liked how this book was a bit smaller, and lightweight. Easy to carry around or throw in your bag!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John J. McLaglen is the pseudonym for the writing team of Laurence James and John Harvey.

Laurence James began his writing career in 1974 when he published his first novel in the science-fiction series SIMON RACK: EARTH LIES SLEEPING. He worked in publishing for ten years off and on till about 1970, when he went to “New English Library and ran the editorial side of NEL for three years.” In addition, around 1974, James published the fantasy saga of Hells Angels in England & Wales in the early 1990s under the name Mick Norman.

While the name of Laurence James is not synonymous with Westerns, those of John J. McLaglen, William M. James and James W. Marvin, to name but a few, are.

John Harvey, a former English and drama school teacher began his contribution to the Herne the Hunter series with the second book, River of Blood. “In the Western,” says John, “I’m interested in finding a balance between the myth of the West (as it comes through American literature and film) and the historical reality. Increasingly, I’m concerned to attempt to make a stronger place for women in the Western, which is traditionally a refuge of masculinity and male fantasy.”

The character of Jed Herne is like a blunt instrument moving through the West. He never achieves happiness, nor riches. Laurence James said, “There is no such thing as a happy western hero. Never. They can’t be. They’ve got to be men alone. They’ve got to be heroes.”

Dr. Thomas A. Johnson currently serves as the associate vice president and chief of strategic initiatives for Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the SANS Technology Institute. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University and his doctorate from the University of California–Berkeley. Dr. Johnson has developed programs in cybercrime and forensic computer investigation and also founded the Graduate National Security program offered at two of our National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories in California and New Mexico. As program leader for the Graduate Cybersecurity degree for Webster University, Dr. Johnson worked with 20 colleagues to implement the program at multiple military locations and several regional metropolitan sites, as well as the main campus in St. Louis.

The book did not meet my expectations. I was looking for deep technical details for protecting critical infrastructure, however, general information as well as few details was presented instead.
