Japanese loveliness

This little book is an artwork in itself. Its handbound cloth covers hold a collection of lovely Japanese fabric designs in subtle colors. And the text traces a clear line from the Japanese fabric and design books through the turn of the century European pattern books.The pages of "Le Japon Artistique" are an inspiration for any artist concerned about composition. Subject and negative space are simply and beautifully balanced. The book continues the tradition of botanical pattern books in a very sensitive way, and is sure to appeal to Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau collectors as well as artists and kimono fabric collectors.

The book itself is a work of art.

This is a very beautiful book, the kind of book a Kindle will never replace. It's a pleasure to hold the cloth cover with Japanese binding. There are illustrations in wonderfully muted colors on almost every page.
There is also an informative introduction about the history of floral patterns in early 20th century.

A tasteful little book meant for Art Nouveau lovers

The book is a rare piece and with this spirit, it is presented and bound. the images, though printed in really opaque colour, are very beatiful. I am strongly attracted to art nouveau in all its forms,so I appreciate to be able to see the form it took in Japan through this book. It is very good value for money and I keep going back to it for inspiration.
