Dr. Thomas A. Johnson currently serves as the associate vice president and chief of strategic initiatives for Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the SANS Technology Institute. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University and his doctorate from the University of California–Berkeley. Dr. Johnson has developed programs in cybercrime and forensic computer investigation and also founded the Graduate National Security program offered at two of our National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories in California and New Mexico. As program leader for the Graduate Cybersecurity degree for Webster University, Dr. Johnson worked with 20 colleagues to implement the program at multiple military locations and several regional metropolitan sites, as well as the main campus in St. Louis.

The book did not meet my expectations. I was looking for deep technical details for protecting critical infrastructure, however, general information as well as few details was presented instead.

I ordered this book because the only advice I got from my doctor for dealing with my inflammation issues was to take more anti-inflammatory drugs and go easy on my body. I felt like I needed more information which I got from this book and then some. In reading this I appreciated the way the author took some complex subjects and made them easy to understand.

The most intriguing thing I learned from this book was the number of medical problems where inflammation was the culprit, no matter how old we are. The most helpful was the practical things that I can do to heal my body, which I have started to do. While it has only been a couple of weeks, I am beginning to feel the difference and starting to feel healthier overall. Although, I shouldn't be surprised after what I learned.

This book is a Must Read for EVERYONE!

This book was enlightening and entertaining from cover to cover. I loved the simple approach that Dr. Sears takes in describing this complex topic. It opened my eyes to how inflammation impacts so many of the top diseases trending today. This book provided practical tools that I can implement in my family to protect my children, improve my own health, and increase my lifespan. This book is on my stocking stuffer gift list for Christmas this year!

Great book! Reader friendly & entertaining.

I've read a few books on the subject of inflammation, and this one stands out from the rest. It's reader friendly because he breaks down everything in a style of writing that's easy to understand. Not to mention that this book held my attention for quite a while... in fact, I almost could not put it down! Dr. Sears makes it easy to implement many of the suggestions given throughout the book. There's info on what to eat and NOT to eat, exercise, stress, and then he goes on to suggest certain supplements such as: BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin (a powerful antioxidant). Funny thing is, I already had this supplement on hand, even before I read the book! I'm glad he confirmed the quality of the BioAstin - makes me feel like I made a good purchase after all. He also touches on the subject of epigenetics (a very relevant word these days), and how glycation accelerates inflammation, along with oxidation. This is an ALL NATURAL solution to reducing inflammation from head to toe, I highly doubt I will find a better book on the subject. 5 stars all the way!!

About the Author
Robert H. Kargon is Willis K. Shepard Professor of the History of Science at The Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of The Rise of Robert Millikan: A Life in American Science and other books.

Arthur P. Molella is Jerome and Dorothy Lemelson Director of the Smithsonian Institution's Lemelson Center. He is the co-editor (with Joyce Bedi) of Inventing for the Environment (2003, MIT Press).

Within these groups the students learn the basics of solving problems, beginning with the idea that problem solving is not such a difficult skill after all. A wide variety of activities are used beginning with open questions and gradually moving toward questions which have a definite solution. Many of these activities are in the form of games to increase student interaction and hypothesis testing within the group."

Great for all Students!

I teach gifted students, and after borrowing this book from my school's teacher resource library for two years, I've finally decided to get my own copy. It's got great math word problems, and my students eat them up! I like that each problem is interesting, with different characters and scenarios (there's a series of humorous problems about an alien colony, for instance). There are also different focuses and levels of difficulty. The book is organized around several approaches students can use for problem-solving -- ideal for math teachers, too.

Don't let the publishers date deter you ... I have used the problems in this book in my middle school math classroom for 20 years and it is still the best collection of problems out there. Absolutely in with 21st century skills of collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity. I don't know what I'd do without it.

Destruye desde su inicio y con pruebas s�lidas todo aquello que aprend� en la facultad de Ciencias Sociales y Econ�micas. Soy un defensor del libre mercado, pero al saber por medio de este libro que el "libre mercado de hoy" no es libre (en realidad es un mercado keynesiano mal regulado, sea por alevos�a o no) y que aquel libre mercado de antes muri� hace ya muchos a�os. Me permite de una forma m�s fuerte comprender que ocupa mi pa�s y el mundo. Recomendado aunque para algunos sea un poco inc�modo.

OH MY KETO!

I am not in the habit of posting reviews on Amazon - it's a transgression of mine. But I had to make an exception for this book. If I could summarize this book into one word, it would be: WOW!

Yes the book is beautifully presented, yes the photos are gorgeous, and yes the recipes are your typical favorite fare (rather than obscure things no one would typically eat). But the important question always is: are they delicious? Well... I can't anwer for all 200-some recipes, but I can speak for one in particular that I tried just this morning.

Keto-pancakes. If you've low-carbed long enough, you've tried pancakes alternatives and you know they typically always suck. Sure you can make decent pancakes, but mouth-watering one? No... At least not until now. I followed this book's recipe and was simply blown away! Not only was the flavour fantastic, but it's the type of pancake you'll stare at and wonder: "how can there be no carbs in this???"

And so, I can honestly wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone following a low-carb lifestyle. You won't regret your purchase, and I have a good every other recipe in this book is just as amazing. Thank-you to both Jimmy and Maria!

Easy Prep Time, Fantastic Taste and Flavor

So far we are are very pleased. I love the herb infused butter, grain-free/low-carb deep dish BBQ pizza and the many dressings and condiments to increase the flavor of your vegetables and protein dishes. (Psst...I'm going to be sure to try the MCT oil roasted garlic tonight. We love garlic around here.)

Eating low-carb can be fun and tasty, Jimmy shows you the way.

As a bonus, the prep times are relatively short and don't require dozens of ingredients.

I have been paging through this wonderful book for a while and have been dying to try out the "bread" recipe. I did however make it a couple of days ago and oh my goodness I wish I had made it sooner, I was not disappointed. This bread is the best grain free recipe I've made in ages, thanks to Maria Emmerich. I'm not kidding when I say it tastes just like bread. It's so soft and light and a breeze to make. It keeps well and makes great toast the next day. Yum!
Like she says people call it "Wonder Bread". I say it's the REAL wonder bread! ;)

There are so many great and healthy recipes to try in this book even if you are not "Keto" and want to stay healthy. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is on a low carb and high fat diet. Maria does a great job explaining what Keto is and how to incorporate it into your lifestyle. The meal plans are a plus. Maria has a lot of basic recipes that start you on the right foot and then she goes on to some really amazing stuff! Keep up the good work Maria!

This book will go right on my bookshelf next to Danielle Walker's "Against All Grain" and Dianne Sanfilippo's Practical Paleo amongst many great paleo friendly cookbooks.

FYI with one recipe for the Keto bread, I made a small loaf of bread and one 10" pizza crust.
